Abstract

The results of dynamics as well as measuring of intra-abdominal pressure of 93 patients suffering from intra-abdominal infection are presented. It was observed that in 100% of cases abdominal sepsis is complicated by increase of intra-abdominal pressure and developing intra-abdominal hypertension; intra-abdominal hypertension syndrome develops in 48,4% of cases.  Correlation dependence between the rate of intra-abdominal pressure and extent of inflammation of abdomen and retroperitoneal space (p< 0.05), as well as between the rate of intra-abdominal pressure and severity condition as per APACHE II scale (p< 0.05) were observed. At that, long-term hypertension of patients suffering from intra-abdominal infection provides for progressive multiple organ failure and requires laparotomy; lowering intra-abdominal pressure is one of the objectives of laparotomy
