Abstract

A great number of primary amputations with a higher rate of postoperative lethality as well as unsatisfactory results of operations, preserving the lower extremity, determine the necessity of profound development of complex tactics in respect of patients suffering from necrotic suppurative foot affection due to diabetes mellitus and the search of new methods of prevention of the continuous necrosis development in wounds. The paper presents experience in treating 980 patients with diabetic foot syndrome, including the use of balloon angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities (53 patients). Endovascular treatment of the lower extremities arteries of patients having necrotic suppurative complications of the diabetic foot syndrome is a safe and effective method permitting to achieve the foot wound healing, to preserve the extremity supportive function by way of performing economic resections and necrectomy.
